§ 6.24.050. Abandoned animals—Penalty

  • It is unlawful for any person to abandon, within the city, any domestic animal by dropping off or leaving such animal on the street, road or highway or any other public place, or upon private property without the owner's consent. An animal is abandoned when left in any such place without any provision made for the care and feeding of such animal or for the return of such animal to its owner or keeper. Any person violating this section shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine as provided for in Section 6.32.050, and shall be required to reimburse the city for any reasonable and necessary costs incurred by the city for the care or disposition of the abandoned animal.
